Vice Minister Chen Xiaohua met with Mr. Leonid Zayats, Minister of Agriculture and Food of the Republic of Belarus, in Beijing on Sept. 28, 2016. The two sides exchanged views on strengthening the bilateral agricultural cooperation.
Vice Minister Chen stated that the China- Belarus relations maintain sound momentum, which boosted the bilateral agricultural exchanges and cooperation.
To further the bilateral agricultural cooperation, Vice Minister Chen put forward the following suggestions:
(1) Increasing personnel and information exchanges to have in-depth understanding of agricultural development in Belarus and China and the needs for cooperation;
(2) Conducting agricultural S&T cooperation, particularly in joint research in livestock, germplasm, agricultural products processing and agricultural mechanization;
(3) Promoting cooperation in agricultural machinery to jointly develop advanced agricultural machinery; and
(4) Enhancing agricultural economic and trade cooperation, creating enabling environment for trade growth, and increasing cooperation in agricultural investment under the framework of the "Belt and Road Initiative".
The Belarusian minister agreed with Vice Minister Chen's positive comments and suggestions, expressing his willingness to work with the Chinese side to further strengthen the pragmatic cooperation between tow countries.
